Tuesdevo: The Last Day

“Keep watch!”  (Matthew 24:42.)

The Bible speaks of the “last days” and the tone is ominous.  But some “last days” in life are anticipated joyfully – the last day of exams, or the last day in the hospital before returning home, healed.Better Clock

Today is a “last day” for those of us who follow the Gregorian Calendar.  We celebrate with food, friends, lots of noise and plenty of activities.  For those who will celebrate in such a way, may you also find a moment to be quiet, to reflect on the passing year and contemplate the mystery of the time that awaits us in the future.

And … if you have time, here is a NY Times Article worth the read – Tweet Less, Read More.

And when you finish the article, why not spend a few moments contemplating the beauty and wonder of Genesis 1:1-2:3.

May your Tuesday be blessed, and your 2014 bring you faith and peace.

Want to talk about sex, politics, spirituality? So do I. I grew up in a religious home in the 1950’s and 1960’s. Our country was reeling from assassinations and the devastation of the Viet Nam War. Looking for something beautiful, I got a degree in music, married the love of my life and had children. Looking for God, I then went to seminary. Looking for something that might transform the world, I became a local church pastor. Now, I’m always looking for people who want to talk about important things. I cherish conversations with emerging leaders, people who are antsy to try an idea they believe would change the world for the better. I’d would love to hear from you.
