Walking in The Way of Jesus – Worship Blog for January 12, 2014

January Sermon Series… Today is the second in our series as we introduce our church’s new mission statement and the web presence that is built around it.  Last week we talked about our “Worshiping Community” and next week we will hear about “Believing In Place.”  This week we talk about what it means to be Walking In The Way of Jesus.

Rachel is our preacher today and her message is about the “what-next?” after the community worships. What good is recharging our batteries in worship if we don’t then go out into the world to use the energy for God’s work? What good is listening to God’s word to us if we don’t then act upon it? What does it mean to walk in The Way of Jesus and how do we teach it to our children and role model it for one another?

Ours is a faith in action. Our website, our worship, and our community reflect this moving faith tradition that has been handed down to us over the millennia. It isn’t enough to talk the talk… let’s get walking.

How are you going to walk in the way of Jesus this coming week? How will love guide you?

Rachel Fraumann

My personal mission is to translate the life and teachings of Jesus to the next generation of peace and justice seekers in and around Burlington Vermont. I’m always up for a friendly argument, a free hug, or to be available as a compassionate ear or shoulder to cry upon. I have an insatiable curiosity for ideas and love to talk about theology, religion, politics, science, or whatever is on your mind. My current passion is about peeling back the centuries of church tradition in order to find the root of our faith in the teachings and ministries of Jesus so that it can be put into practice. After fifteen years of professional ministry with young people I still love watching a newly empowered Child of God set out to change the world!
