Called to Work Behind the Scenes

October 12 Worship Pic

Some people are out in front leading the way. Other people are behind the scenes making the ones out in front look good.

This Coming Sunday … Our October Series – Find Your Calling – Find Your Ministry continues this coming Sunday – October 12. Mark is using the film “Argo” – and the story behind the film – to invite us to think about those who are called to minister and serve behind the scenes. Our Scriptures will invite us to consider Aaron, the brother of Moses, and John the Baptist, the cousin of Jesus. These two figures were not the main event. Aaron was “support staff” for Moses. John was a “forerunner” for Jesus. It was easier for Moses and Jesus to get it right when Aaron and John were fulfilling their calling. “Behind the scenes” is a noble place to be.

How many “behind-the-scenes” workers do you suppose we have in our church? Are you called to be one of them?

Join us for worship this coming Sunday!

Mark Demers

Want to talk about sex, politics, spirituality? So do I. I grew up in a religious home in the 1950’s and 1960’s. Our country was reeling from assassinations and the devastation of the Viet Nam War. Looking for something beautiful, I got a degree in music, married the love of my life and had children. Looking for God, I then went to seminary. Looking for something that might transform the world, I became a local church pastor. Now, I’m always looking for people who want to talk about important things. I cherish conversations with emerging leaders, people who are antsy to try an idea they believe would change the world for the better. I’d would love to hear from you.
