Can We take A Break?

“And on the seventh day God finished the work that he had done, and he rested …” Genesis 2:2

NY City mayor Bill De Blasio has called for cessation of demonstrations and protests, asking that the city be allowed to mourn the two police officers who were shot and killed late last week.

Is there anyplace in the world where people are not protesting or fighting? Do a google search on the word “protest” and in a fraction of a second you find yourself on a guided tour of the globe with demonstrations and protests on every continent and country. Even the pope is protesting. Dec 23 Christmas Truce

It is two days before Christmas. Wouldn’t it be something if just for a couple days we could pull off what the armies did for that short time during World War I! This Christmas is the 100th Anniversary of The Christmas Truce of 1914. What if, the whole world over, every one of us declared a “Truce” – just for a day or two.

God rested from the work of creating. Certainly we can rest from the work of destroying – just for a day.

A blessed Tuesday to you.

Mark Demers

Want to talk about sex, politics, spirituality? So do I. I grew up in a religious home in the 1950’s and 1960’s. Our country was reeling from assassinations and the devastation of the Viet Nam War. Looking for something beautiful, I got a degree in music, married the love of my life and had children. Looking for God, I then went to seminary. Looking for something that might transform the world, I became a local church pastor. Now, I’m always looking for people who want to talk about important things. I cherish conversations with emerging leaders, people who are antsy to try an idea they believe would change the world for the better. I’d would love to hear from you.
