It’s About “Us”, Not “You”

This week we are talking about the hard truth that, while every individual is important, the Biblical project is not about “you” or “me”. It is about us. From the “People of Israel” (Exodus 3:7) to the “People of the Way” *(Acts 22:4), our scriptures tell us that God is looking to bring together a “people” – a community. Once you were no people, writes Peter; now you are God’s people. (I Peter 2:10.) Our texts for this week are I Corinthians 12:4-14 and Mark 8:34-38.

What does it take to become “Us”? First of all, we have to get over “Me”.

We Should Get To Know Each Other

The Case for Radical Transparency – Susan Scott

Mark Demers

Want to talk about sex, politics, spirituality? So do I. I grew up in a religious home in the 1950’s and 1960’s. Our country was reeling from assassinations and the devastation of the Viet Nam War. Looking for something beautiful, I got a degree in music, married the love of my life and had children. Looking for God, I then went to seminary. Looking for something that might transform the world, I became a local church pastor. Now, I’m always looking for people who want to talk about important things. I cherish conversations with emerging leaders, people who are antsy to try an idea they believe would change the world for the better. I’d would love to hear from you.
