Last One Out …

Faye's Car

Most of the time, the last one out of a church is doing a lot of good, serving behind the scenes, picking up after everyone else. The car in the photo above will be recognized by many who attend First UMC Burlington. This “Tuesdevo” is a tip of the hat to the owner of that car, and to all who play that role every now and again – the “last one out”. Jesus tells his disciples: When you have done all that you were ordered to do, say, “We have done only what we ought to have done!” (Luke 17:10.)

It’s good to know there are those willing to do what needs doing without a lot of fanfare. Today, if you find that doing what must be done means you will be the “last one out,” be joyful – We’re tipping our hats to you today!

A blessed Tuesday.

Mark Demers

Want to talk about sex, politics, spirituality? So do I. I grew up in a religious home in the 1950’s and 1960’s. Our country was reeling from assassinations and the devastation of the Viet Nam War. Looking for something beautiful, I got a degree in music, married the love of my life and had children. Looking for God, I then went to seminary. Looking for something that might transform the world, I became a local church pastor. Now, I’m always looking for people who want to talk about important things. I cherish conversations with emerging leaders, people who are antsy to try an idea they believe would change the world for the better. I’d would love to hear from you.
